A bit about me
I’ve been drawing on and off since I was a kid, mostly just copying my older brother or drawing SpongeBob. For a long time, art was something that came and went depending on how difficult life was at the time.
When things got particularly heavy around the age of 18, I picked up a pencil again. I wasn't trying to be "creative", I was just drawing repetitive patterns and shapes on Post-it notes to keep my mind quiet. Buying a sketchbook felt like too much of a commitment back then, so I kept it small and unserious.
Eventually, the Post-its weren't enough. I finally bought a sketchbook. I moved into digital art just before the pandemic, convinced I’d only ever be able to do "simple" illustrations.
In 2020, I fell down a hole of drawing anime characters from Naruto and Haikyuu!. They were pretty awful at first, but it reminded me why I loved drawing in the first place.
After another break, I decided to stop holding myself back. I’d always avoided semi-realism because I didn't think I was good enough, but in 2023, I finally went for it. It took months of "awful" attempts, but I eventually finished work that I was actually proud of. It was the first time I realized I could actually make the kind of art I wanted to see.
